I heard the Hawaiian language and alphabet is composed of only 12 letters or so, is this true? and how many vowels/consonents are there?

Like, what is the Hawaiian alphabet?

Also, it must be very scary to live there, knowing that u live on top of dead volcanoes (or is this info wrong?)

Say hi to Honolulu for me.

But still about the language, if it's only 12 letter, how can u speak?

There are five vowels (a, e, i, o, u) and seven consonants (h, k, l, m, n, p, w). The five vowels repeat themselves with ` over each letter, hence making more than 12 letters to use. ` is also in the alphabet. Each vowel and consonant has their own pronounciation. For example, e komo mai is a phrase is that means welcome.

Scary? No. The only island that still has an active volcano is the Big Island.

Do you know what a Hawaiian looks like? Asians (Japanese, Chinese, Korean, Filipinio) are the biggest ethnic group in Hawaii, so you probably saw an Asian.

Every island is different and unique. Each island has a different number of volcano that made it. For example Maui (known as the Vally Isle) is made up of 3 separate volcano's that merged together to create one island.

Honolulu is on the island of O'ahu which is not the biggest of the islands. The biggest is the island of Hawaii (the locals call it the big island) which is still growing. You should look up the legand of Pele. She is the goddes of the volcanos and is still a big part of the Hawaiian culture. She is the reason why you should never take a volcanic rock. She is the reason behind all of the bad luck that you will recieve.

sure yet its considered an endangered language. Hawaiian replaced into truly displaced by English on six of the seven inhabited islands. the only place the place the Hawaiian language is spoken on a on a regular basis foundation is on the interior maximum island of Ni'ihau, placed merely off the coast of Kauai. throughout the time of all the islands you will locate many Hawaiian names, phrases and expressions utilized in on a regular basis existence. in fact 85% of all place names in Hawaii are Hawaiian and usually have exciting memories at the back of how they have been given the call. The Polynesians in no way had a written language till the Missionaries arrived and located they mandatory a Hawaiian Bible, so they directly developed a twelve letter alphabet. It includes 5 vowels and 7 consonants that are pronounced merely as they are in English aside from the W, that's often pronounced as a V. Hawaiian Pidgin or Slang is yet another consumer-friendly way of speaking in standard communication among locals.

Hawaiian is an Austronesian language spoken by about 8,000 people on the Hawaiian islands. Hawaiian first appeared in writing in the early 19th century in a version of the Latin alphabet developed by missionaries, who started to visit the Hawaiian islands from 1820 onwards. Literacy among the Hawaiian people was widespread during the 19th century when Hawai'i was an independent kingdom. Dozens of Hawaiian language newspapers were published, together with Hawaiian translations of religious works and novels and Hawaiian transcriptions of traditional stories.

After Hawaii was annexed by the USA in 1899, the Hawaiian language was banned from schools and went into rapid decline. By the 1980s, there was only about 2,000 Hawaiian speakers, most of whom were elderly.

In 1978 Hawaiian was made an official language of Hawaii, along with English, and since then there has been a revival of interest in the language. There are now several schools where most subjects are taught through the medium of Hawaiian and Hawaiian classes are popular at all levels of education.
