Unless you rent a private charter or something, you cannot get to the other islands by boat. Supposedly they are going to start ferrying people from Oahu to Maui, but they've been saying that for a while now.

There are three major airlines that do inter-island flights: Aloha Airlines, Hawaiian Airlines, and Island Air. Flights are usually about $80 one way. However, a new airline is coming to Hawaii in June called Go!(www.iflygo.com) and they are offering $39 one way fares. The other airlines are offering $39 fares to compete with this new airline but you have to purchase your tickets in April and must fly between June and Sept. Might as well go with Go! for all-around better prices.

A typical RT airfare on Aloha or Hawaiian is $165 or so. They just had a $39 1-way special and will probably have it again sometime later this year.

There currently aren't any boats that make the trip between islands unless you were to charter one. In January 2007 we will have inter-island ferry service which will be a bit cheaper than airfare. Check out www.hawaiisuperferry.com I personally am very excited about having the ferry service in town. You can take your car from island to island which might be bad for outer-island (Maui, Kauai, Big Island) car rental places, but good for the consumer.

A while ago they had a spacial for $39 to go inner island. They are building a Farie but it won't be ready for years and they are having problems with it. You couild take a boat but it might take a long time.

Actually, the interisland air carriers are the best way to get from Oahu to another island, but there are ferries from Lahaina, Maui to Molokai and Lahaina.

Aloha and Hawaiian Airlines run like schuttles, every 30 minutes or so.

I'm not sure about the best but the cheapest is the back stroke!
