There is Freeways in the City and county of Honolulu (Oahu Island)that are part of the Interstate highway system Interstate H-1 from Barbers Point to Diamond Head, H-2 From Pearl Harbor to Wahiwa and H-3 from The Aloha Stadium to Kaneohe Bay. They are funded by the government as they were intended to connect military bases together as the Eisenhower defense highway system Later designated the Interstate highway system.
