I am moving to Oahu this summer... I hate my town because no restaurants are opened past 10pm. Can I go out at 1am and find a decent restaurant to eat at? What time do the bars and clubs usually close?

Generally, bars close at 2am and clubs at 4am, following state liquor license laws that prohibit alcohol sales after midnight (stores) 2am (bars) or 4am (cabarets/clubs).

As for open restaurants, it depends on how close to Waikiki/Honolulu you will be at 1am! The whole Kapiolani and S. King Street area, as well as Waikiki, will have little hole-in-the-wall restaurants, mostly noodle houses (Japanese and other Korean), and chains like Zippy's, McDonald's, and Jack in the Box will have 24-7 hours.

Side Street Inn is where the top chefs hang out after their own restaurants close for the night, so head there if it's before 2am.

Sorabol gives you great Korean food 24/7 as well. We take visitors there as we can get anything at any hour (except booze between 4am and 6am). Like Like Drive-In, up the street, is okay.

You'll find coffee shop-type places like Denny's, Mac 24/7, and Wailana open 24/7 too.

Further away from Waikiki is Liliha Bakery (and the chains like Zippy's), Byron's near the airport, and Anna Miller's on the Pearlridge side.

There are not a whole lotta places as far as the late night crowd is concerned - The night club scene is limited to about 2 or 3,... how should I say - uh, "dives" that are open till 4 am. the oldest is Fusion, which also happens to be a Gay clientele establishment (bring your ear plugs because they play the music louder than loud, the ground physically trembles about half a block away). Forget about setting your phone on vibrate because you won't feel it.

Also, the majority of restaurants in Waikiki, the kind where you have to make reservations for normally close around 9:30 pm, a few are open till 11 pm.

Other places like cafes or coffee houses are open till about 10 pm.

Some fast food places are open to the public till about 9 or 10 pm, while a hand full stay open for drive thru service like Jack in the Box. The only places around the island in all of Oahu that is a sit down diner is one or two places in Waikiki & for local fare there is Zippy's which is open 24/7.

Corner convenience stores like 7~eleven & local all night convenience at some gas stations, is all you will find open. There are a handful of deliver pizza joints that have 24/7 service but only in limited areas.

As much as Honolulu is a metropolitan city, it also isn't as big as L.A. where there are places that are open longer, even all night.

But being on topic. You're asking about Honolulu, well if there is anywhere to party, its in

Waikiki after hours. Anywhere else, will close up around 9pm or 10 pm. Its always been like this even before the though economy hit the country.

Well about 20 years ago, there were more night clubs open till 2am, and at least 7 that were open till 4am.

The Liquor Commission that gives Cabaret Permits have very very strict criteria, so there are no new night clubs opening.

But most night clubs and other drinking dives around the island close at 2 am.

And Zippy's is your only real choice, since columbia inn has been closed for a long long time.

Foodland & Safeway are the onlyfull size supermarkets that are open 24/7 on Oahu.

My husband works odd hours and is sometimes looking for a meal in the wee small hours of the morning. Zippy's and Anna Miller's are his two go-to places. 7-11 isn't a bad choice either, if you just want something quick. There are a few all-night saimin places in the Downtown/Waikiki area. I haven't been down that way in a while, but Wailana Coffee House on the edge of Waikiki was a 24-hour place. I'm not sure about that any more.
