Yeah, not any website I know of that give you real translation to real Hawaiian, ok? Now, alla haole ova at UH Manoa, and otha place, go to lotta trouble and spend lotta state and federal money to make believe they know Hawaiian language, ok? Then they make up garbage to pretend they adapt new word in english to Hawaiian, ok? Silly people, and most alla Hawaiian people laugh their butts off at them, ok? But if you really want something translate to Hawaiian, only old Hawaiian really know how, cause silly haole at UH not even close, ok? Worse yet, they confuse school kid alla time with new crap they call Hawaiian language, ok? Just nother in line of crap Hawaiian people have to put up with, ok?

Pidgen just what call they language workers all use to communicate, ok? No big deal, yeah? Easy to speak, and hard to unnerstan, but does work, yeah? So, Peace and aloha to you, and maybe go to nice spanish/english dictionary, yeah?

Peace and aloha to you!

There is no online Hawaiian translator, as the language is seemingly simple but the meaning is very contextual. Then there are layers of kaona, or hidden meanings, so that a simple translation is filled with hidden meanings.

Where is it from? If it is very old, then you definitely need a language expert because the diacritical marks, and some spaces, which are crucial to correct meaning, are missing in the old texts because everyone knew the difference (e.g., in English, everyone knows "father" is not simple "fat her").

If it is recent, it may not even be correctly formed in Hawaiian!

If it's a phrase or two, just post it as a Y!A question. If it is a lot, contact the University of Hawaii Hawaiian language department for assistance. Or send me a PM and I'll take a look at it....

kapaa kid doesn't have to be such a douche bag. If people are trying to find an answer to maintain the integrity of the hawaiian language, and are trying to treat the language with respect, then they deserve respect as well.

Same goes to Alex.

Even kama'aina need help with some words. While the spelling transalation is quite simple, there are multiple meanings and pronunciations to some words depending on the 'okina and kāhako.

Mahalo to Teti & LS & Beachgirl. I found your references helpful. It's a start. Hopefully someone will be able to get a definitive Hawaiian/English and English/Hawaiian dictionary out soon.

www.wehewehe.org is the best on-line Hawaiian-English dictionary. You'll need to click the "English" version at the top of the page.

Legislation establishing Ka Haka ʻUla O Keʻelikōlani College of Hawaiian Language provides for laboratory school programs to include Ke Kula ʻO Nāwahīokalaniʻōpuʻu (on Hawaiʻi Island), Ke Kula ʻO Samuel M. Kamakau (on Oʻahu), Ke Kula Niʻihau O Kekaha (on Kauaʻi), Ke Kula ʻO Kawaikini (on Kauaʻi) and other sites as appropriate. All laboratory programs reflect Ke Kumu Honua Mauli Ola Hawaiʻi, the Hawaiian educational philosophy which asserts Hawaiian cultural identity as the basis of education and participation in contemporary life. Hawaiian is the medium of instruction and communication among students, staff, and administration at the laboratory schools, which focus on college preparation, environmental and health studies, sustainable agriculture, and teacher training. Most of the professors do have Hawaiian ancestry and are native speakers of the language.

Hawaiian and pidgin are two different things.

There's a good Hawaiian dictionary online at:

http://wehewehe.olelo.hawaii.edu/cgi-bin/hdict?l=e

You'll find multiple pidgin dictionaries, but you might try:
